Keratin Brazilian Blowdry

Please note this treatment requires a 50% non refundable deposit upto 3 days after making the appointment due to the time it takes.

These keratin-based treatments are performed on all types of chemically-treated (bleached, hi-lights, coloured, permed, relaxed or previously straightened) and virgin hair. The technique of the application is similar to the Japanese Yuko System in the way that heated flat irons are used to close the product into the hair cuticle.

These treatments aim to straighten curls and waves and to reduce frizz. The treatments do not guarantee completely straight hair, although if performed correctly they can reduce up to 80% of the curl depending on the original hair texture.

Treatments last from 12 weeks on-wards and repeating the treatment every 4 months will allow for treatment of new growth. Depending on the treatment used downtime after it is performed ranges from no-wait which the recipient can wash or wet the hair.

Questions and Answers

Q) My clients seem to be coming back with poor results, after previously having great results with a Nov’Max Keratin Treatment, what maybe the problem?

A) GHD’s are no longer being made with an intense enough heat for a Nov’Max Keratin treatment. Please make sure the irons you are using are 220 degrees or above for the treatment to be effective.

Q) My client wants a Nov’Max Keratin treatment but doesn’t want to loose their volume at the roots, what can I do?

A) Your client can still have a Nov’Max Keratin treatment but to prevent the loss of volume in the roots, avoid applying the Anti-Volume treatment on the roots. After shampooing and drying the hair, comb in the Anti-Volume treatment 2 inches away from the scalp (or more if requested) and proceed with the rest of the treatment process as usual.

Q) How old can you be to have a Nov’Max Keratin treatment?

A) Ultimately its down to you and how comfortable you feel but we would say that 8 years and up are suitable to have a Nov’Max Keratin treatment. You will need the parents permission under the age of 16 and the child needs to be able to sit nicely for two hours. Good ventilation is as always very important and for their comfort provide a towel to protect their eyes and nose.

Q) Can clients have a Nov’Max Keratin treatment if they are Pregnant?

A) Ultimately its down to you and how comfortable you feel but after the First Trimester (the first 3 months), a Pregnant client can have a Nov’Max Keratin treatment. Good ventilation is as always very important and for their comfort provide a towel to protect their eyes and nose.

Q) Can clients that Swim have a Nov’Max Keratin treatment?

A) Yes they can, but the Nov’Max Keratin treatment will not last as long due to the effects of the Chlorine. What I would suggest is that you do Nov’Max Keratin Mini treatment which can be done every 5 or so weeks, it is quicker to apply with very similar results but not as long lasting. Please see our Nov’Max Mini Blow-dry treatment guide.

Q) Can I do a Nov’Max Keratin treatment on very Blonde and Fragile hair?

A) Yes they can, but we would recommend to do the Nov’Max Keratin Mini Blow-Dry process, which can be done every 5 or so weeks, it is quicker to apply with very similar results but not as long lasting. Please see our Nov’Max Mini Blow-dry treatment guide.

Q) What happens if my client gets an allergic reaction from a Nov’Max Keratin treatment?

A) We have come across only a handful of clients who have had an allergic reaction from our Nov’Max Keratin products, clean the area well and advise your client to take antihistamine, symptoms should go down within 24 hours. To prevent further reactions, avoid getting the products on the scalp, make sure any product that comes in contact with the skin is wiped off with a wet towel.

Q) What aftercare is needed, do my clients need to use Sulphate Free shampoo and conditioners?

A) We do not recommend Sulphate Free shampoo and conditioners, we feel they have very little effect in prolonging the results of a Nov’Max Keratin treatment. Sulphate Free products are very expensive and clients do not enjoy using them, we feel their money is better invested in having a Nov’Max Keratin treatment a little sooner when needed rather than spending money on the Sulphate Free products.

No aftercare products are recommended so just advise your clients to carry on using the products they love using at home.

Q) Can the Nov’Max Keratin products damage my clients hair?

A) No Nov’Max Keratin products do not damage the hair, if damage is caused this is only due to the over exposure of heat from the straightening irons. To prevent damage on fine or fragile areas, for example around the front of the face, bright highlights at the top and damage at the ends, do not go over the areas more than 2-3 times with the straightening irons. With the stronger areas of hair, repeat as required 7-10 times with the straightening irons.

Q) Can my clients have their hair Coloured or Highlighted before a Nov’Max Keratin treatment?

A) Yes, it is recommended to have highlights done 2 weeks before a Nov’Max Keratin treatment or colour 1 week after, this is due to bleach being applied after the treatment may strip out some of the Nov’Max Keratin and weaken the results.

Q) Can my clients have their hair curled for a night out after having a Nov’Max Keratin treatment?

A) Yes, at any time. Afterwards when washed the hair will return back to the wonderful results of a Nov’Max Keratin treatment.
